Ingredients

  • 10 cups water, or greater as needed
  • ½ pound toddler carrots
  • ½ pound celery stalks, reduce in thirds
  • 1 giant overripe tomato, punctured with a knife
  • 1 massive onion, peeled and quartered
  • 1 meaty ham bone
  • 3 cloves garlic, diced
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • ½ pound child carrots, thinly sliced
  • 1 pink onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, diced
  • 1 cup dry white wine
  • 1 pound cut up peas, picked over
  • 2 russet potatoes, peeled and reduce into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 (1.41 ounce) programs sazon seasoning (such as Goya®)
  • 2 teaspoons floor pepper, or extra to taste
  • sea salt to taste

Directions

STEP-1. Combine water, half pound toddler carrots, celery, tomato, quartered onion, ham bone, three cloves garlic, and bay leaves in a giant stockpot. Bring inventory to a boil. Reduce warmness to medium and simmer for three hours.

STEP-2. Remove 1 half of to two cups of the ham meat from the bone, dice, and set apart for use in the soup. Pour inventory thru a strainer and discard solids. Transfer inventory to a protected container and refrigerate till fats rises to the pinnacle and solidifies, 1 to three hours.

STEP-3. Skim off fats and pour inventory into a gradual cooker.

STEP-4. Melt butter in a saucepan and add sliced toddler carrots, pink onion, and three cloves diced garlic. Cook and stir till browned, 7 to eight minutes. Pour wine into the pan and deliver to a boil whilst scraping the browned bits of meals off of the backside of the pan with a wood spoon. Add to the sluggish cooker.

STEP-5. Rinse and drain break up peas and add to the gradual cooker. Add tight-lipped ham meat,  sazon seasoning, black pepper, potatoes, and salt. Stir. Cook on High till soup is thickened, 5 to 6 hours.

This break up pea soup is a household recipe that I brought a few tweaks to. We constantly make this after Easter with our leftover ham bone. Simple and delicious!
